Field Recordings from Gilgit, Pakistan. May 1999.
All taped on a recording cassette walkman using weird crappy tapes bought in a local market.
The sound phenomena are as much about the vagaries of these tapes, the comforts of tape hiss, as they were the environments being recorded.
I loved the call to prayer in the early hours of the morning, especially when we were up in the mountains and the calls echoed back into town.
