This is my favourite of the various compilations released on PseudoArcana. I was blown away by the quality of tracks sent in by the contributors and if anything find this an even more rewarding listen today than I did then.

Taken inexplicably by a perverse whim I decided to send a curve ball invitation to the creme of the NZ electric music underground to see how they would respond. Near everyone involved caught the ball, polished it like a demon and sent back a jewel, others simply fudged the brief and sent back a sterling pseudo-acoustic track rather than the real thing. I wasn't about to complain..

Really this should have been the first PseudoArcana CD proper, but being unsure how to proceed with organising that (and having -as many of us did- an unfortunate faith in the CDR as a format) released it on CDR.

It sold plenty of copies and garnered great reviews but many people missed out on hearing what is a true classic.

Deep, mind-bending psych. I don't know how it was put together, but it feels very organic, like early Nurse With Wound. I could see Gordon, Dilloway, and Nace sitting among a pile of junk and miles of tape, splicing together this album piece by piece. Levrikon

Short and sweet, no wasted moments, subtle guitar lines make it easy to miss how inventive they are. I actually appreciate the live to tape recordings including whatever is going on in the background; it's not obtrusive. And some electronic dabbling. An intimate album fans of bedroom folk, Vashti Bunyan, etc will appreciate and love more with repeated listens. Anthony Childs
