McLeod Ganj was recorded over a summer in early 2002. I had no tape recorders at hand and it was the first time I'd ever made an album entirely on a computer.
My partner Sara and I were working painting Saras sisters house in Nelson and the source material for the recordings was a collection of Tibetan instruments that was in the house. I played these into the cheap PC microphone on the computer in the house using Windows Sound Recorder 32 and looped and layered using this most rudimentary of softwares.
Aquarius Records latched onto it at the time and it was popular enough to sell enough copies to fund the next couple of releases.
